1 large green cabbage

1 lb (450 g) ground meat (beef, pork, or a mix)

1 cup cooked rice

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 egg

2 cups tomato sauce (or crushed tomatoes)

Instructions

Prep the cabbage

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Carefully remove the cabbage core.

Boil the whole cabbage for 5–8 minutes, peeling off leaves as they soften. Set aside.

Make the filling

In a bowl, mix ground meat, cooked rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika.

Stuff the leaves

Place a small amount of filling on each cabbage leaf.

Fold in the sides and roll it up like a burrito.

Place rolls seam-side down in a pot or baking dish.

Pour tomato sauce over the top.

Cover and simmer on low for about 1 hour, or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 75–90 minutes.
