Easy Homemade Bread (1 loaf)
Ingredients

3½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1¼ cups warm water (not hot)

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp oil or melted butter
Instructions

Activate yeast: In a large bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Mix dough: Add oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Stir until combined. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.

Knead: Turn onto a floured surface and knead 8–10 minutes (or 5 minutes with a mixer) until smooth and elastic.

First rise: Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled.

Shape: Punch down dough, shape into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.

Second rise: Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.

Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown.

Cool: Remove from pan and cool before slicing.
