Instructions
1. Prepare the steaks
-
Pat steaks dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
-
Set up a dredging station:
-
Bowl 1: flour + paprika + garlic powder
-
Bowl 2: beaten eggs + milk
-
-
Coat each steak in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat again in flour (double dredge for extra crispiness).
2. Fry the steaks

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
-
Remove and drain on paper towels.
3. Make the gravy
-

-
Whisk in 3 tbsp flour over medium heat to form a roux. Cook 1–2 minutes until slightly golden.
-
Gradually whisk in milk.
-
Simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened.
-
Season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve
-
Pour gravy over steaks
-
Pair with mashed potatoes, green beans, or corn for classic comfort
Tips
-
Tenderize steaks before breading for best results
-
Keep gravy smooth: Whisk constantly and add milk gradually
-
Optional twist: Add a pinch of cayenne or smoked paprika to gravy for extra flavor
If you want, I can also give a baked version that’s lighter but still crispy, or a southern-style extra-thick gravy version.
