Cheesy Baked Meat Patties in Creamy Sauce
Ingredients
Meat Patties

500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or chicken / turkey)

1 small onion, finely grated

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg
-
½ cup breadcrumbs
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp paprika
-
½ tsp Italian seasoning (or oregano)

1 tbsp oil
Creamy Sauce
-
2 tbsp butter
-
2 tbsp flour
-
1½ cups milk or light cream
-
½ cup chicken or beef stock
-
½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
½ tsp garlic powder
-
Optional: ¼ tsp nutmeg or mustard
Topping
-
1–1½ cups shredded cheese
(mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix) -
Optional: chopped parsley
Instructions

Prep the patties
In a bowl, mix all patty ingredients (except oil). Shape into oval or round patties. -
Sear
Heat oil in a pan. Sear patties 2–3 minutes per side until lightly browned (they’ll finish cooking in the oven). -
Make the creamy sauce
In the same pan, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in milk and stock. Cook until smooth and thick.
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg/mustard if using. -
Assemble
Place patties in a baking dish. Pour sauce over them evenly. -
Cheese it up
Sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top. -
Bake
Bake uncovered at 180°C / 350°F for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden. -
Finish
Garnish with parsley and let rest 5 minutes before serving.
