Classic Apple Pie
Ingredients
Pie Crust

2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
Apple Filling

6–7 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
(Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix work great) -
¾ cup sugar

¼ cup brown sugar
-
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)

1 tsp cinnamon
-
¼ tsp nutmeg
-
1 tbsp lemon juice
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a large bowl, mix apples, sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.

Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.

Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter.

Cover with the second crust. Seal edges and cut small slits in the top.

Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes.

Reduce oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 35–45 minutes, until apples are tender and crust is golden.

Cool at least 1 hour before slicing.
Tips

Brush top crust with milk or egg wash and sprinkle with sugar for a golden finish.

Place pie on a baking sheet to catch drips.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Dutch Apple Pie: Top with crumb topping instead of a top crust.
