Golden outside, fluffy inside, and much lighter than deep-fried.
Easy Air Fryer Chips
Serves: 2–3
Ingredients
-
3 medium potatoes (Russet or Maris Piper work best)
-
1–1½ tbsp oil (olive or vegetable)
-
½ tsp salt (or to taste)
Optional seasonings:
-
Paprika
-
Garlic powder
-
Black pepper
-
Mixed herbs
Instructions
1. Prep the Potatoes
-
Peel if you like (optional).
-
Cut into even sticks.
-
Soak in cold water 30 minutes (removes starch → crispier chips).
-
Drain and pat very dry with a towel.
2. Season
-
Toss potatoes with oil, salt, and any seasonings.
-
Make sure they’re evenly coated, not greasy.
3. Air Fry
-
Preheat air fryer to 190°C / 375°F.
-
Place chips in the basket in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
-
Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking every 5 minutes.
-
Increase to 200°C / 390°F for the last 3–5 minutes for extra crispiness.
Tips for Extra Crispy Chips
-
Dry potatoes = crispier fries
-
Don’t overcrowd the basket
-
A light spray of oil halfway through helps browning
-
Thicker chips = fluffy inside, thinner = crispier
Variations
-
Skin-on chips for more texture
-
Cheesy chips: sprinkle grated cheese in last 2 minutes
-
Spicy chips: add chili powder or cayenne
-
Sweet potato chips: cook at 180°C / 350°F for 12–15 minutes
