Air Fryer Bread
Ingredients
-
2 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
-
1 tsp instant yeast
-
1 tsp sugar
-
½ tsp salt
-
¾ cup warm water (105–110°F / 40–43°C)
-
1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1. Make the Dough
-
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
-
Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
-
Knead 5–7 minutes by hand (or 3–4 minutes in a stand mixer) until smooth and elastic.
2. First Rise
-
Cover with a towel or plastic wrap.
-
Let rise 30–45 minutes, until roughly doubled.
3. Shape
-
Punch down dough.
-
Shape into a small loaf or round boule that fits your air fryer basket.
4. Second Rise
-
Let shaped dough rise 15–20 minutes while the air fryer preheats.
5. Air Fry
-
Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
-
Lightly brush dough with olive oil or melted butter.
-
Place dough in air fryer basket.
-
Cook 12–15 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
6. Cool
-
Let bread cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips for Success
-
Don’t overcrowd: Air needs to circulate.
-
Steam for crust: Lightly spray dough with water before cooking for a crispier crust.
-
Check early: Air fryers vary — start checking at 10 minutes.
Variations
-
Garlic Herb Bread: Mix minced garlic, rosemary, and thyme into dough.
-
Cheese Bread: Fold shredded cheese into dough before shaping.
-
Whole Wheat: Replace ½ of the flour with whole wheat flour.
