Classic Pepper Dip (Pep Dip)
Ingredients
-
2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened
-
1 cup mayonnaise
-
1–2 cloves garlic, finely minced
-
½ cup red bell pepper, finely diced
-
½ cup green bell pepper, finely diced
-
Salt & black pepper, to taste
Optional (very common):
-
1 tbsp finely chopped onion
-
Pinch of paprika or cayenne
-
Splash of pickle juice or vinegar (tiny but good)
Instructions
1️⃣ In a bowl, mix cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth and creamy.
2️⃣ Stir in garlic, peppers, and optional onion.
3️⃣ Season with salt and pepper (go easy—flavors develop as it chills).
4️⃣ Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (overnight is even better).
5️⃣ Stir before serving.
How to Serve
-
Ritz or Club crackers
-
Pretzels
-
Fresh veggies
-
Toast points
Tips for the Best Pep Dip
-
Dice peppers very finely (texture matters)
-
Let it chill—this dip is better the next day
-
Don’t overdo the garlic (raw garlic gets stronger over time)
Variations
-
Spicy: add jalapeño or crushed red pepper
-
Cheesy: mix in shredded cheddar
-
Lighter: use half Greek yogurt, half mayo
-
Sweet pepper version: use jarred roasted red peppers (well drained)
If you meant a different kind of “pep dip” (like banana pepper dip, pepperoncini dip, or a hot baked version), tell me which one—you’ve got options 😄
