Easy Homemade Pita Bread (Makes ~8)
Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

2 tsp instant yeast

1 cup warm water (not hot)

2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions

Mix

In a bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.

Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead

Knead 8–10 minutes (by hand or mixer) until smooth and elastic.

If sticky, add a little flour — dough should be soft, not dry.

Rise
-
Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled.

Divide
-
Punch down, divide into 8 equal pieces.

Roll each into a ball, rest 10 minutes (this helps puffing).

Roll Out

Roll each ball into a circle about ¼ inch thick.

Cook (choose one)
Stovetop (best puff):

Heat a dry cast iron or heavy pan on high.

Cook 30–45 sec until bubbles form, flip, cook another 30–45 sec.

It should puff like a balloon 🎈
Oven:

Heat oven to 475°F / 245°C with a baking sheet inside.

Bake 2–3 minutes per side.

Wrap cooked pitas in a clean towel for 5 minutes to keep soft.
