Yesss — crispy, apple-packed, old-school goodness 🍎✨
Here’s Martha Stewart–style Apple Fritters (faithful to the vibe, but written fresh so you can actually cook it without flipping pages).
Apple Fritters (Martha Stewart–Inspired)
Ingredients
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
2 tbsp sugar
-
1½ tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp salt
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
-
¼ tsp nutmeg (optional but very Martha)
-
⅔ cup milk
-
1 large egg
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 tbsp melted butter
-
1½ cups apples, peeled and finely chopped
(Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) -
Vegetable oil, for frying
Optional Glaze
-
1 cup powdered sugar
-
2–3 tbsp milk
-
½ tsp vanilla
Instructions
1. Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
Stir wet ingredients into dry just until combined.
Fold in chopped apples.
(Batter should be thick and chunky — not smooth.)
2. Heat the Oil
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy pot to 350°F / 175°C.
3. Fry the Fritters
Drop batter by heaping tablespoons into the hot oil (don’t crowd).
Fry 2–3 minutes per side until deep golden and cooked through.
Transfer to a wire rack or paper towels.
4. Glaze (Optional but Classic)
Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth.
Drizzle over warm fritters or dunk the tops.
Martha-Level Tips
-
Chop apples small so they cook through.
-
Keep oil temp steady — too hot = raw centers.
-
These are best same day, slightly warm.
-
Skip the glaze and dust with powdered sugar for a bakery-case look.
