Beef and Gravy
Ingredients

500 g (about 1 lb) beef (chuck, stewing beef, or sliced beef)

1 small onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons oil or butter

2 tablespoons flour
-
2 cups beef stock
-
Salt and pepper (to taste)

Optional: mushrooms, carrots, or peas
Instructions

Brown the beef
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside. -
Cook the onion
In the same pan, add onion and cook until soft. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. -
Make the gravy
Sprinkle in flour and stir for 1 minute. Slowly add beef stock, stirring to avoid lumps. -
Simmer
Return beef to the pan. Add vegetables if using. Cover and simmer on low for 30–45 minutes (until beef is tender).
Season with salt and pepper.
Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients

4–5 potatoes, peeled and chopped

2 tablespoons butter
-
¼–½ cup milk
-
Salt (to taste)
Instructions

Boil potatoes in salted water until soft (about 15–20 minutes).

Drain well.

Mash with butter and milk until smooth.

Season with salt.
To Serve
Spoon creamy mashed potatoes onto a plate and top with beef and rich gravy 😋
