Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions
A classic Italian-American favorite โ juicy sausage, sweet caramelized onions, and tender peppers in one flavorful skillet.

4 Italian sausages (mild or hot)

2 tbsp olive oil

2 bell peppers (red & green), sliced

1 large yellow onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

ยฝ tsp dried oregano

ยผ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt & black pepper to taste

ยผ cup chicken broth or white wine

Fresh parsley (optional)

1๏ธโฃ Brown the Sausage
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add sausages and brown on all sides (about 6โ8 minutes).
Remove and set aside (they will finish cooking later).
2๏ธโฃ Cook the Peppers & Onions
In the same pan, add remaining olive oil.
Add sliced onions and cook until soft and lightly caramelized (5โ7 minutes).
Add peppers and cook until tender.
Stir in garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
3๏ธโฃ Combine & Simmer
Return sausages to the skillet.
Add broth or wine.
Cover and simmer 10โ15 minutes until sausages are fully cooked (internal temp 160ยฐF / 71ยฐC).
4๏ธโฃ Serve
Slice sausages (optional) and serve:
